SOMEWHERE OVER THE WITHIN

I HAVE SEEN NO HEAVEN IN THE HEAVENS

I’ve got to go to places unknown,
to spaces far and wide
where I have given mind to the stars,
to not be alone.

With no brothers to hold thoughts for me,
of me other than those distant living lights,
bound to me,
for I ponder on them.

I have seen no heaven in the heavens,
I wonder if I dare to look,
travel into the places,

supposedly where peace rises,
lives live, orbiting beyond the spaces
in places I dare to not tread within?

  1. I don't much dare anything these days.

    1. I wouldn't recommend a tightrope across Michigan Ave in Chicago Charles but to not dare something once in awhile, is a position of hopelessness in that which is within you.

  2. I haven't seen much of heaven in the monastery I stayed in for 9 years either ... so now I am free to make my own heaven ... and I like it that way ... smiles ... Love, cat.

    1. Meowmomma--Staying in a monastery for me would be like playing piano in a whorehouse, I may never get any fringe benefits but think of the noise i could make.

  3. Dare and be brave and don't worry about finding heaven... I think it has to find us.

    1. That's an interesting concept Jeff, heaven finding us. Follows the tradition of 'all are lost." I am not lost I just have no more destinations i need to hie myself to. Which removes a certain gravitas to my journey.

  4. It's probably better to not see pearly gates in the clouds.

    1. Well that's what some of the books indicate. Of course like in all life i view books especially best sellers like the Bible and Qur'an with a certain amount of cynicism.

  5. A deep reflection Mark ~ Perhaps in the end, peace is found within oneself ~

    1. Exactly Grace! The Kingdom of God Is Within You~~Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy. This is a theme throughout all the texts of all religions, but it can be elusive to find and hard to stay in.

  6. There's got to be something better waiting for us. It's the final mystery. xo

    1. Jodi it depends mightily on your spiritual context while you're here in this place. some have found a perfect fit with an answer about the next and others can't quite grasp the concept. As for me-I know what I am about and have come to the conclusion that it makes little difference to me personally until i walk through the door.

  7. Excellent ~! For some reason, this makes me go back to the recent eclipse, and warnings not to look directly into the sun. (Which I never understood but do not challenge by actually looking directly into the sun . . .)

    1. It is a good analogy Erik, I think I looked for the sun for so long and found it that i forgot my reasons for beginning the search in the first place.
