YA KNOW THEY COULD HAVE EATEN FROM THE NOW DYING TREE OF LIFE

KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT

If I was religious
I would be a congregant
of the Lecher.

Whisky, cigarettes, women,
and bar fights
that roll out to the alley.

I’d listen to baroque music all day
and mock shit
that called itself contemporary.

Good and evil, it’s rumored
came off the same tree.
Who am I to decide what’s what.

This is 55 words of verse that G-Man may have appreciated or kicked ass over. If you've a mind to hit it and git it with 55 words then do so then link to Vesper, the one carrying the load now that G-Man is living in the place of Hogs, barbecue, song.

Let yourself go and kick some ass your self.

  1. The church of What's Happenin' Now, Baby--I remember it well. Yeah, I think Galen would have enjoyed this one--as do I. And imo you have to taste at least a bit of both the apples to know what either one is about. Unfortunately, everything is black or white these days, and nobody wants to know why, or to change it. Thanks for playing, Mark, just like this in the spirit of the thing, and please have a kickass weekend--something easier said than done these days.

  2. Apples are like church, meowpoppa ... you just leave them out of your apple cart ... easy as (apple)pie ... smiles ... Love always, cat.

  5. Before I answer each comment I am going to mention the headline.

YA KNOW THEY COULD HAVE EATEN FROM THE NOW DYING TREE OF LIFE

In the account of the creation of the world God told Adam "of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat there of."

Here's the thing that occurred to me awhile back--The tree of life was in that garden you know the one God placed a fiery sword around to guard it after they ate from the one tree they were told not to. The question arises would there be evil and good in the world if they made different brunch choices? would they have through that fruit skipped the troubled millennia and become eternal creatures? Would the Christ and Passover have become unnecessary? Few think of the account as literal, science proves the planet has been inhabited for far longer than 6500 years--so even if one looks at the account of creation as a metaphor--the questions still remain about how we became as we are with the capacity for such great evil and great good.

We did not have to evolve to devolve to our current state.

  6. Oh Mark! I have an image in my mind, of a quiet Sunday evening in front of a church, a man standing outside, waving his cane at the churchgoers, shouting out "repent all ye sinners" I go to the church of nature, I believe you will be equally at home there, my fellow spirit

  7. This part is so thought provoking:

    Good and evil, it’s rumored
    came off the same tree.

For me, it all boils down to choices - the event can be nuetral but how we react to it - good or bad, echoes and affects our journey.

Have a good week Mark ~
