IT IS SLIGHTLY COLDER
THAN YESTERDAY BUT NOT AS COLD AS TOMORROW
Fucking idiots. 20 degrees Fahrenheit below 0 at the bottom
of the mitten where the damned wind pushes it in past the cuff. Fingers no
matter how well covered are too much smothered to be of any use to them trying
to unlock a car that has a fucking 50/50 chance of starting, strip off the
gloves and get the door unlocked, feel the frostbite eating away at the upper
layers. Rolled the dice car started after several wheezy attempts. Work called,
be nice go in for the one who says she can’t make it because it’s cold, too God
damned cold to leave her bed. She, of course has a better lie than that,
something about the 4th of July. Out you go to try to get there
where you make your wages filling pages taking messages for the management that
didn’t bother to even wake up from their slumber much less dress in ten
Michelin Man lumbering layers to just get out the door. Dreams of their guaranteed
salary fill their fucking heads. Makes no difference though to the fucking
idiots who will for a dime’s sake keep pouring more and more and always more
shit into the atmosphere. Hey who here doesn’t like the youtube video of Rhode Island
sized bergs calving off the Antarctic ice sheet? Fucking idiots, my kids worry
about not having Social Security in 40 years, I worry about there not being 40 dirty
damn years left on the planet so humans can man it.

youch, that is cold
ReplyDeleteYes Sir it is, we get up to 30 today then hit the low double and single digits for the rest of February. As i write this it is warmer in Nome Alaska.
Deletewoke up to -6 actual temp this morning...so we are not too far behind...-30 wind chill....hey not having 40 more years will solve the social security problem...and it may be a blessing....
ReplyDeleteBut it's hard to go on living when you realize just how fast we're all dieing. Better to pretend in Social Security. And maybe burn down some factories.
ReplyDeleteAlice SS is fully solvent sort of. READ THIS EXPLANATION
DeleteHow will it all turn out?!

That is the question Cloudia, if the US Congress honors all the T bills they used to secure the cash they took out of SS and every federal pension fund but their own it could be OK well beyond 2100, but if Paul Ryan and his crew have their way they will simply wipe out the debt and confiscate the bills held by SS.
DeleteThe Environmental Change i believe you as being more equatorial will begin to see it hasten in more varied ways. How it all ends up? Depends on what we d today to insure tomorrow.
It is even cold here, Walking Man, fountains are frozen and all, but it is to warm up tomorrow (they say). Stay warm and sometimes I am with you wondering how long the planet has left.
ReplyDeleteJeff I am a "love those 80's" kind of guy myself. But with all the lake ice again I doubt we'll see much of that again this year. I guess the question should be have we passed the tipping point for all the different gases we add on top of those that are naturally occurring. I think so but I pray I am wrong.
DeleteToo cold here too Mark ~ And I went to work today because I need to ~
ReplyDeleteKeep warm & have a good weekend ~
In our house Grace we kind of are used to it, seeing as how our thermostat never goes above 62(f).
DeleteWhat should be the #1 concern for all the people on the planet is still heaped onto the "oh it can wait pile" I don't think we can turn it around to pre 1887 levels in our grandchildrens lifetime.
Hey, sir, I worked today. It's my job, man...And I'll talk to my kid about negative temps and yards-high snow. But it's always worse for the Man on the (literal) Street. All ways. Keep warm, Walking Man; winter's not done with us yet. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteds--in MI it won't be done with us, like last year, until mid-June or later when the last of the ice is gone from the lakes. It's brutal at 20+ it is a killer at -20.
DeleteSurvive, survive, survive.
ReplyDeleteWhether we want to or not, sometimes.
jean we may have to change the definition of survival.
DeleteAren't we in a good mood 2today, eh? ... Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteMark-I too, have had it with these ridic temps! It's absolutely inhumane to be outside and I pity those Liberty Tax people outside for the minimum possible wage. Horrible! xo
ReplyDeleteWe have the usual predictable idiots here who say, "What happened to global warming?" when there is a cold period. I have given up trying to tell them that it is about temperature extremes. No good reasoning with those who are uneducable.
