LESSONS FROM THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL.

NEVER IN DENIAL OF REALITY
Oh joy the cold after Christmas has come,
blaze my soul with “business as usual,”
while I await Easter and the return of the sun.
What is it about man,
many who can come to nice
for a day
then the next forget
how a life of love and family is played?

Strong willed is the person
who can shun the artificiality
of ribbons wrapping paper and dying trees
with all the family heirloom ornaments
now put away
and ponder mightily on both
the good and evil he sees.

Love me as you will or not,
I understand
the greatest capacities of man
are found not in one day spent,
 but in a lifetime’s current
too fast moving, too soon went.
There is sweetness in evil
and bitter in good,

this is why that tree was placed there;
man still needs this simple lesson learned.
We have our peace breakers,
our war makers,
our lying bankers

and

the ever too few truth tellers,
unfortunately though most of all we have lie sellers
ever reaching for an upper hand
to grab a fortune of gold (forget the myrrh and frankincense)
without any desire to understand
that fortune is not found in a big fat roll of cash and no sense,
but rather
on the other hand that oft talked of tree’s knowledge
is only complete and real to show
within the understanding of a humans living soul.

  1. Lie sellers indeed. And it seems to be big business.

  2. Christmas is spoilt by the meaning the world has now adopted... shop, shop, shop. Not my favourite season.

  3. this is a beauty, mark. xoxo

i had a huge blowout with my brother over managing my Mother's money a few years back. (i did all the work and he scoops in and tells me what to do.) we both learned our lessons because we almost lost one another, and that would have been a sad regret. so we both matured our way through pettiness and i think we will stay okay now. i'm so glad of that.

i am going to rail against those who try to screw me until my dying breath. i may get arrested; i wouldn't be surprised.

i wish you a good and sold year ahead, of poetry and love and family and to hell with the rest.

    love
    your pal
