GLORY WARRIORS
The golden tombstones
scattering on the earth,
in silent falling
mark the unending path
from youth to death.
Glory warriors in their forest camo,
readily apparent in urban landscapes.
Aging to golden bronze,
a better dressing
for
the
soon
to be
replaced,
now irrelevant.
Young hands grasp at the para cord of life
through every storm passing over the ship.
A moment of surrender approaches.
A moment of surrender approaches.
Wrists grow brittle waiting, succumb to time;
The dry old cord
breaks no fall,
there is yet one last hope,
capture,
imprisoned by a breeze.
Wind chimes play taps
saluting them.
Those few
too many
who have served for their anointed season,
another occasion for war and battles—strife
meant to enhance and give all men
life, air, remorseless gain
on the backs of the young leavings.
No one truly mourns the fallen.
All eagerly await the new crop of young
destined to die in disregarded loss
while growing in their brave new season.

It's destined to be never-ending, meouwpoppa ... the story started with Cain and Abel and the story will continue until not ... https://www.youtube.com/embed/_Cgx8wT7hjw?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0 ... Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteThat's the odd part about life Meowmomma, man has the ability to change destiny but thus far sees no other way than ripping and rending.
DeleteOh good lord--cats!
DeleteIf you're not old when you go into battle I'd guess you're old when you come out
ReplyDeleteThe combat veterans I know Charles are aged in their mind well beyond their years.
DeleteIt's the ultimate changing of the seasons.
ReplyDeleteIt is how them who never fought or saw armor advancing control populations Alice.
DeleteI salute all those who have fallen and hope that the young generation will find their own journey and peace in these chaotic times ~ Peace Mark ~
ReplyDeleteI wish Grace, but I think it will just be another turn of the wheel and their time is rising now. Sadly.
DeleteSuch a noble deed, so forgotten and disregarded, 11.11 I paused to think...... And remember....
ReplyDeleteFew these days count history as worthwhile. I find not knowing what came before never allows me to see this day clearly.
DeleteMay your Thanksgiving be peaceful, Mark.
ReplyDelete..and so it was Jean. Quiet is a frame of being I appreciate..
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving. I am beginning to feel old from the battles...
ReplyDeleteYou get an amen to that Jeff, I am weary but the fights just keep coming.
Deleteexpendable? not in the eyes and hearts of those who love them…
ReplyDeleteyou paint a sad true picture of the ravages of damn war,
strife
meant to enhance and give all men
life, air, remorseless gain
on the backs of the young leavings.
No one truly mourns the fallen.

kj
Expendable is necessary for wars kj. when we truly value life, especially the lives of them who fight the battles, war will end.
