HIDING IN THE CROWD

MADE TO BE DESTROYED

More than one grain is needed
to make a beach.
More than a single drop must be
to form a wave.

The sand is a constant
never all stolen or replaced.
The waves are changing
ever changing with tides and tears.

Man is an ocean and a beach
as the tides of time and age
sunder his soul
between love and rage.

It’s been said
there is strength in numbers.
I for one will remain
a sole drop, a single grain.

I’ve no pressing need
to stand for or against the sides and times.
I’d rather simply evaporate in the heat made
under climatic strain of Mans self-inflicted pain.

  1. Each grain of sand is unique but still a grain.

    1. 10 small words Jeff, but such a hard lesson for mankind to learn. Not every grain truly belongs in the herd.

  2. A man of my heart, I stand alone, prefer to observe, absorb, then turn these observations into words, to be felt. Hallo Mark, *hugs* I've missed you, missed our midnight porch chats *grin*

    1. Shadow solitude has become my preferred state of being for the past 4 years or so. I do believe I left the "art" community at just the right time--I was beginning to believe my own "press clippings." It was a sorry state of affairs.

Our porches have not gone anywhere my dear friend, neither have the chats or the sharing of attitude.

      Love you

  4. It is a challenge (or curse) to be a sole drop, a single grain. Too often we are hammered out by the crowd or numbers. If you like to hide from the crowd, its okay too.

    1. Grace, I never thought isolation in my body, mind or spirit as a curse. I have lived peacefully on the beach and as a grain flying solo in the wind. I don't hide, ever. I can only do what I do (often without explicable reason) because that is how I am in the present.

  5. That way, while the world is watching the wave, the drop is having it's own good times.

  6. So, imagine there is such a thing a reincarnation. Then when the drop evaporates and falls back to earth, is that rebirth?

    1. Mass can only change shape or form Alice so when the drop evaporates, converting it to a gas and then reforms as water from the vapor is that new water or old water coming back to the sea?
