IN NO HURRY BUT I HAVE A PRAYER READY

A PRAYER OF THE DEAD

Gravedigger, gravedigger wipe your hands as you walk away,
leave me comfortably sealed in my grave.
The silence is closely held, quiet and consoling,
save for the loss of love and friends yet behind me.

Trainman, trainman leave me be,
found in my seat fast and forever asleep.
Let the tickety tack of wheels over rails cradle my sleep
As love and friendships be my dreams riding with me.

Captain, O captain of the voyage pass my body into the deep.
Allow for no flag or symbol of my life here to cover me,
only let the the love and friendships that nurtured my spirit
follow me to the great depths of the sea.

  7. I recently learned from my mother that we can get our bodies cremated for free if we donate them to medical universities. She's already got hers accepted. Only problem is that we have to transport her body 80 miles. They are only willing to go up to 50 to collect.

    1. Alice i have had my donation card in my wallet for near a decade. If you pay to transport to the nearest morgue within the 50 mile radius (not real expensive) the university will come get the cadaver from there, but I highly recommend you arrange that with a funeral home now as opposed to your times of grief. I do not recommend you transport any cadaver yourself--just remember one of the stipulations for acceptance is no autopsy may be performed on the cadaver or it becomes unacceptable.

  8. Beautiful. And another one that could be put to music, without question.

  9. All I can say with any clarity is think about this after I am gone and you to will be there with me, even though you may not have yet walked that way, and I will do the same for you all.
