BE THE SOUND OF THE WHISPER NOT THE INTENT

IN MY SOUL YOU ARE I

Behind the curtain is the chain of my history,
the learning of everything I never knew to be certain
yet found out to be true on back thinking reflection.
I don’t know and never will if I went wrong or not,
my blind eye looking back lookin’ back plenty
at all the places I thought I belonged,
I am I and I certainly am not 20/20.

But now sighted I can see
I didn’t need
to fit anywhere
doing anything;
only to be where I was needed to be
when the chores of leading fell to me.
Older now I know there is nothing better
than navigating maps, old and discarded,
in the unknown seas beyond lands end
where dragons be, past all the other many fears
that the unknown desire to know inspire,

There are places I love to set my fearless unfelt feet still.
And find my passing through to be
the sound of the applause the leafs make as the breeze excites them,
the echo of whales calling in the deep,
the sound of the wolves howl in the mountains,
the noise of owls in a wooded glade,
the whoosh row of every bird’s wing,
the silence of the stars that shine in lights beyond reach.

I am all these things and more
for the peace set before my feet unknown
at the start of finding a claim
‘til after I’d walked there
in life linked by unfettered chains.

    1. Meowmomma if you love, then what you love is fully and completely yours to have and cherish. Thanks for hearing an old man's call in the echoing darkness.

    1. I am happy for that Charles, truly I am. If my words have given you a moments rest then the arranging of them is well worth the effort.

  3. In the last 2 verses it felt like you picked me up and carried me to a wonderous place of peace.
As I too believe, all we have to do is experience what IS, observe and listen, learn!, and that is how we can become wise? experienced? knowing? for the younger ones to observe and hopefully heed... It does need the open soul though, to be able to recognize what you take in. Which you have *smiles*
Love you, my Walking Man, Vx

    1. Aww Shadow, my dear friend an ocean away understands the power of words to pick one up and make them touch the heart of another. You are quite gifted in that goal, where I am simply not afraid of poetic expression of my nakedness of the moment.

  4. I love the whale song stanza.

For most of my life I have marveled at the idea of always being at home even when one is away. I know many people who have no set home at all and live "home is where my hat is." I like to think I can be that way, too. But really, I like to know that my adventures will end at my own sweet dorr.

    1. Alice it is good to have a door that is your home, no one can argue that; yet for a home to be a home there has to be a history that links a person to that space.

  5. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

    1. Lisa--this is a definition of the man emerging from the curtain. Curtains have a purpose for them who are not exhibitionists, but all poets are total nudity freaks if they are at all honest with themselves.
