THURSDAY 13 THE FIRST AND QUITE POSSIBLY THE LAST

Never having done a Thursday 13 before I am going with 13 things off the top of my head.

1. Monday a 3 year old was shot in the face by his 11 year old ½ brother playing with a gun 1 street over and 1 block up from my home.

2. I am seriously considering purchasing a 45, a Glock 9, or a .380 as my first legal handgun.

3. I have come to the decision that there is no redeemable qualities left in Michigan

4. I will never leave this place, simply because my presence irritates most of them living near me.

5. There are many things that once were important to me that no longer mean shit.

6. On July 28 I changed numbers from 60 to 61, and DJ, my grandson, changed from 0 to 1.

7. Birthdays are an odd way to count age.

8. I have no skeletons in my closet; one of the reasons I never went into politics.

9. Leonard Cohen sounds good between 0300 and 0800-everybody knows

10. Being a sailor and a road dog were the best days of my life--too bad I was so young when I did those things.

11. My 15 year old granddaughter is 4 months away from her driver’s license—I still won’t let her come here to visit.

12. I am consistent—the Rolling Stones have sucked for more than 45 years.

13. I still haven’t figured out why the Boomer generation assassinated all of its best leaders.

  2. All the news is not good... Happy belated birthday, Old Man. You do live in a troubled spot in the world, but I am also amazed and worried at the violence in parts of Savannah.

    1. Yep Jeff the 48205 is getting worse by the day but it is a creeping sickness that is going across the nation--just too many people thinking they are missing out on something they refuse to work towards. The Oligarchs want us as divided as possible. Jealousy is on great divider.

  3. Happy belated Birthday, Mark! "They" say, with age comes wisdom.
In your case, yes. For others, not so much.

    1. I am glad you didn't automatically go the Beatles Charles--I grew up on The Who (one of the very few bands of the 60's-70's I never saw live.)

  5. Hope you managed to rise above all the mayhem and murder on your Birthday Mark. Difficult I know, but hope is all we have.

    1. Philip there is no rising above any of the mayhem, there is only doing all I can do to keep the punks who may wish to try my patience safe. Sign, fence, dog, windows that will not crack but shatter outwards and finally my friend Mr. 12 ga.

Hey I made it to 61 and still sleep well when i sleep and am alert when i am awake so i guess i am doing OK.

  8. Get a 45.

It is interesting how what was once important and what we were willing to give our sweat blood and rage to once, are no longer important.

heh, yeah without the drama of those skeletons - politics would be so boring. I mean we would have to actually talk about the issues then maybe.
