WHY ARE WE YET SO CHALLENGED

LOSING THE LOST WAY
Long past horizons once seen near, close by,
we have yet to grow to be worthy of them,
the challenges presented as vague images,
dreams silhouetted yet never defined clearly
in the rising lights of moon and sun.
They have been blocked out
by all the creations of lights
from the hands of man to lengthen the day’s journey.

How far we have come while standing still,
making imperceptible movement forward
on the global consciousness of a humans worth
not based on race or creed or whom is accepted by whom.
Love is the character of dreams long seen from afar
but it would seem those dreams have moved
far beyond our grasp as our minds mete out definitions
no book ever pronounced about lie and truth.

Distant is the edge of the land we have sought
and never walked over, never crossed the bridge
to loves many freedoms found in Elysium.
Honor to those who tramped the trails before us,
It is them we have yet to catch up to.
For in the struggle to live they learned to love,
neighbor, children, work, life itself in troubled times.
It is better to be a dead person of integrity than a living bigot.

  1. Solid truth there in that last line.

Will we ever find happiness for all? It seems our happiness tends to impinge on the happiness of others far too often.

Love is def not given as easily as it is made out to be. It is not a happy meal, or flyer, given easily. Not is acceptance. And we can not confuse tolerance with love either because it is not acceptance.

There are def those more capable of love than I.

    1. The best of it X is you know when someone actually loves you from the depth of their being. To love like that and be loved like that os what is being crushed by our hatreds.

  2. I'm not so sure anymore of the availability of people willing to be 'a dead person of integrity than a living bigot'. Sad.

    1. Very good point Verena--bottom line is we are as we have become and self sacrifice to save another just does not seem to be in our DNA anymore.

  3. That ending line rings true ~ To work and live in troubled times give character & depth ~

    1. Grace problems in life are begging solutions but those solutions are held off by a massive force of greed and wealth that are keeping the ordinary people from freedom. It does not build character, it does though foment anger.

    1. Meowmomma one of the benefits of living here is that there are no more clothes left in the closet, every bit of naked unvarnished reality is thrown at us daily to decide where we stand. I will stand on my feet, speaking to what i know.

  7. Love really is the most important thing we each must learn. There are actually a surprising number of dead people of integrity if you look at the human race with the expectation that fear is the norm.

    1. Alice I can live without love, but life without integrity has no value or meaning. Fear has become the norm, and it is well exploited by them in a position to make use of the fears most people live under.
