HOW DEPRESSION(s) START
Running water over a sheet of plastic
down the hillside
seemed like a good idea at the time.
It was great fun;
until we slipped off the plastic
and began bouncing off trees.

  2. I don't think kids see it this way. Such practical realities are left to we worldly adults :-)

  4. Such a pungent & powerful image of essential truth - to a mind ready to "see" it.

  6. Say, you should let the water freeze over in that cold weather you have been having and try sliding again. Should be fun.

  7. Those trees hurt, Mark. We do slip slides here on the beach. Saw a couple of broken limbs from that back in the day. Maybe some broke their minds too.

  8. Mark, growing up in snow country made for many stories of sledding mishaps. Don't miss it and would probably break a hip if I tried it now!

  9. Not to disparage creative ability, but,

    When we were teenagers, we would say brainless things, like,

    Ladies and gentlemen
    Take my advice
    Take off your pants
    and slide on the ice

    Hoo Hah!
