WITHER WENT THE
ZITHER
From NYC to Detroit with $35 in his pocket and a lap played
zither. He played at different people mover stations daily, his zither case
ready to receive coinage. Every day for weeks he played every tune he knew. He
left Detroit with $25 in his pocket thinking Flint might not be so artistically
bankrupt.

Another fun filled 55 for fogey G-Man. Of Course you can touch the colored letters and link to his own 55 band of groupies.
ouch....nice commentary there in the last line...
ReplyDeletelove the zither though....
You know i had to get a dif at Detroit in there Brian may the Zither never wither.
DeleteBeen quite a long time since I've given thought to a zither.
ReplyDeleteI Imagine you've seen a million country bar bands that used one Charles.
DeleteThat is a positive way of looking at things ~ Enjoyed the words plinking and plucking all the way to the end ~ Have a good weekend Mark ~
ReplyDeleteWell thank you for plunking your 25 cents worth of thoughts in my case Grace.
DeleteUh Oh....
ReplyDeleteSomebody with an open case of money hanging out
in MY hometown? Flint is THE number ONE city in America
for violent crime ya know....( So Proud )
Loved your Come Zither 55
You are the Master of Urban Observational Commentary
have a Kick Ass Week-End Brother.....G
Galen you know that is only by statistics. We still kill more people. Besides as long as he paid his $1 for entry to the people mover platform, what is the voice on the speaker going to rob him of a losing act?
DeleteOr just plane old bankrupt. It's hard to pass on coins that aren't there.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going to go there Alice..at least not directly. There is a big push and pull on right now to sell of one of the finest art collections in the world.
DeleteOkay, I've never seen an instrument like that. I'd have to pay the guy just to see what sounds it makes! :)
ReplyDeleteTalon it is a combination upright guitar, slide guitar and harp played on the lap. They are truly beautiful in the hands of one who knows their instrument.
DeleteYou turn a mighty fine word and phrase, mr walking man. Very tight story of a ten dollar shrink :-)
ReplyDeleteI like.
Love

kj I have to do these 55s because I am under Galen's spell. Besides they are about the only prose i write anymore. Which makes them the more challenging.
DeleteHeard of a zither--interesting instrument. It was first mentioned in Daniel and dates to about 608 BC. Ancient instrument.
ReplyDeleteMark, from Detroit to Flint; from zither to yon!
