HI YA BEEN AWHILE YA'LL RIGHT?

SONG

There is no song that can be unsung,

no lyric easily removed once voiced

if suddenly a better choice comes

while the chorus hooks the intent in.

Sliding scales from rainbows colors

to the depths of pure dark despair

carry many a tune to hearing ears.

some not so nice others so very grand.

Operatic tunes that reverberate across times land

through mans generations of audiences ears,

each time heard a different portion stands,

appears depending on times day; uplifts or disturbs.

Sing to me a lifelong song of social justice

not one that tells me I need to “just trust us”

for when the band break apart trust fails us.

Justice is a need that never fails or leaves us.

APHORISMS

If I fly off tomorrow

it will mean I have cheated death

one more day.

What use is fear of a man robbing you

when he is just as scared

of getting caught as you are of being robbed?

I once started to learn to play the drums,

I finally figured out that drums

are not made of brick and concussions hurt.

Pain is like masturbation,

 you only feel it

while it’s happening.

The forecast is for rain.

Detroit is so God damn dangerous

Even the weather refuses to cross 8 mile road.

You can run fast and far from hate

But when you get where you’re going

You will still have to change.

  1. That last one hit me especially hard. I'm a runner by nature. But I have to find a place to rest somewhere, and I can't do that if I can't grow.

    1. Shakes, I tried that running for a long time, then I realized I smoked to much, so I lit one up caught my breath and walked. I realized I had been moving so fast I missed all the rest stops. Growth is understanding and accepting reality as it is.

    1. Brian, there in lies our national conundrum, can't trust anyone. A little modicum of visible honesty with no spin would be nice though eh?

    1. You do know the PMoA were the first ones truly called rednecks. they had no union cards back then so they wore red scarves. Now here we sit in the birth place of union pushback against corporacracy with RTW. Stay in where you are Erik. You only have a little bit left of Perry.

    1. Ok Jodi first we had no spring, summer only lasted 4 weeks. What's next year back to back winter? The hood had no damage other than usual daily routine. Soon would be OK.

  9. This is a smorgasbord of wisdom, Mark. Yeah, you can run from things, but you can't run away from yourself.

  10. Even in this little burg the thugs are running amok. Comer Boy Thugga was killed just the other day, shot dead with some lead to the cranium, down right there in the dirt. Those who killed him were in another gang, and are already caught. Dead right there for all intent at 17 years old. Pretty awful and what is the cause? Lack of social justice from over 175 years? I don't know.
