FROM THE DARKNESS LEAVES ME



A SOLITARY SOUND

Standing alone in the dark,
well past the reach of
the still flickering
street light circle
my name us called.

Spoken softly, not rushed.

 “mark.”

I hear the word clearly
I search the shadows
but see no one.
If I knew from where the call came,
I would return a soft unhurried reply

"here"

and my tired heartbeat with it.

    Today, I went to the beach front with my
    kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old
    daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
    There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
    She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I
    had to tell someone!
