IF YOU STILL HURT BURN THE BRIDGE

I HAVE A ZIPPO IF YOU NEED A LIGHT

Often enough the past
is far to remote
from the today
to contend with anymore.

Strike the match and burn the span.
Time never heals a wound
except to the skin,
sometimes not even then.

Better to forget than to forgive
if the latter makes you relive
over and over again pain
that which has long since passed but for that bridge.

Use your words to fight?
What a waste of life’s time,
let go and move away
from what happened yesterday.

Now that we have found
propylene on a moon of Saturn,
Titan to be exact that fake smile
is discernibly plastic not fantastic.

Abusers are abhorred not adored,
live without love in their life
as plastic they no matter their stripe
are really not good for anything from swill to landfill.

Light the match and burn the bridge down,
my friend, let your hates and animosities simply be gone,
don’t let them future crawl, killing kindness
don’t let yesterday’s pain make you heartless.

  3. Wise words, sir, even if difficult to act upon. Here's some serendipity for you. In this morning's yoga class, the teacher quoted the following sutra: "in the presence of one firmly established in nonviolence, all hostilities cease." Nonviolence of deed, word and thought being the ideal. To keep our hearts despite the pain of all those yesterdays, that is the true challenge.

    1. ds i could modify that by saying there is no pain in yesterdays for they no longer exist except in memory, memory is controllable.

    1. Lot better than those cheap ass Chinese lighters they charge you $1.50 for. Family dollar sells Bics for a buck but I still like my Zippo.

  9. I adore this one. If more people could let go of yesterdays hurt and wounds today would be a much better place all the way around. Have a super day my friend.

  10. Mark, It's hard to let go of something or someone who has hurt your feelings, but it's so much better in the long run to NOT drag that bag around. You just put it all in a better place and move along!

  11. It's hard not bear grudges...not to hold onto hurt. Letting it go, though, is liberating for a soul. But when you're in the hurt, you never think that for a split second.

I can hear them all a- buzzin'
    And I ain't done nothin'
    Since I woke up today.

How the hell can a person
Go to work in the morning
And come home in the evening
    With nothing to say..."

  14. I've had a lot of animosity lately towards the bastards in DC. Nothing that I can do in the near term, but I hope that the memory of the people isn't its usual 1 week and they remember the harm done at the voting booth.
