LOST

I am lost among the civilized
for I do not understand them anymore.
My mind is unable to comprehend
the turns and bends
that have become acceptable
in the places where people live
lives of faithless afraid.
Man has conquered man
only to find
that it was his own brother
he slaughtered
playing tea table games.

I woke from the ageless
never ending war of class
with my face aflame ashamed
by the blood drenched mud
barely able to breathe
waiting for that final need
the civilized would send
to end my way of  life
not among the multiplying;
for I was not laboratory cultured right.

Escaping the petri dish
may have been a wrong decision,
that seemed good at the time
but all I wanted to do
was think differently than them
that surrounded me.
I was younger then
and never figured that thinking differently
on the meaning of diversity
would be found to be uncivilized.

I am lost among the civilized
for I do not understand them anymore.

If I ever did.

  2. To fully understand the civilized would take away some of our humanity, I think. As much as I use and appreciate technology and enjoy moving forward, I like to keep my feet on the ground, if you know what I mean...and I know you do. :)

  3. There is a price to pay for speaking and thinking differently from civilized men ~ How many of us are willing to pay for the price ~ Some of us learn to be quiet and adapt to the ways, occasionally waking up when things strike us so bad ~

  4. Absolutely. I feel exactly the same. Civilized is such a deceptive term.

  7. It's all inside out and upside down and so sideways we mistake aggression for humanity. It's as crazy sad and dangerous a time as I've ever dared imagine. Maybe that was true of other civilizations but where are our clans and communities.

We have to be the change we seek. Not then or ahead but now

    Nice poem mark
