A GRAVE SITUATION BETTER A GHOST

Governments willingly spread water
on the graves of them we miss and mourn
before giving a sip to thirsty living soul.

National appearances must be kept neat and tidy,
for all to know that we ever care more for those
who gave all; yet do not themselves care anymore.

The living that thirst are said to be those whose
need is greed and must find their own way pay
for water with sweat, enslavement, and years of debt.

I am willingly become a ghost,
living among the dead,
that I might find some rest
from this strife torn world of death
lead by them who from birth were
destined to be fed from the bloody tit
of those who worked hard to build
a garden lush, fruitful, beautiful
but never were allowed the benefit
to be fed by their years of labor in it.

  1. ..none of us ever become real today or tomorrow in this world preoccupied by dead mind... what we have today & claimed to be real were just a continuity of same all faults & fallacies that were ne'er corrected....we are just living another cycle of death then live again tomorrow and die for another day after tomorrow and again and again... i am tired to live another death....(sigh)...

    1. Kelvin, dude you sound seriously overburdened and tired. Most people, honest people correct and adjust as they move through life and actually find rest in sleep, not a cycle of life and death. I hear you but I think here you just sound like it's time to take a break from working so hard. being lazy for a day won't harm you...

    1. I hear Ya Carleton but no matter what unless you got the $25000 burial box your head is going to still get wet.

    1. Brian i am very respectful of places like Arlington but I honor your children more than every cadaver buried there. Arlington is a beautiful lace but it has grown beyond the purpose it was intended for.

  4. Not only governments, but too often people, focus more on the outward appearance of things than the internal decay.

    1. I know Charles, people get caught up in the fervor to honor the dead, who deserve respect but not at the cost of feeding the needs of the living.

  5. Your words resonate on tilling the fields but never benefiting to enjoy the fruits ~ More of us are worker bees, dispensable at the quirks of greedy business ~

And that first verse, the ending lines just hit it ~ Its greed that powers us all, sadly ~

    1. Thanks Grace but i think most of us are motivated not by greed but the need to survive. there is a difference. For ever and a day the few have acquired wealth off the labor of the many. I don't mind helping someone get rich but shit man...don't make everyone else starve because you need a fifth gulf stream jet because it's Friday!

  7. I am glad to be living on this island and at least somewhat insulated from outward strife. All it takes is a trip to the city though to break my peace of mind.

  8. The second poem really struck a chord. It does seem there is a secret garden where only a few meander about while the rest toil outside the walls to make it ever more beautiful for those privileged few.
