Walking in the Garden of the One True God I had conversation
with the gardener there. We knelt and dug the dirt and while making a hole in
the soil with our hands and knew, just knew that the seeds would grow a’right
according to the plan. There were many plants and flowers none in any special
order (this was Gods garden not a British Jardain Anglais) just everything with colors and blooms,
blossoms and stalks with stickers displayed. All thrown it seemed randomly
around. I questioned the gardener about the particular piece of ground we had
just planted in as I wiped the dirt off my hands onto my naked skin and why
there and not here as I pointed to another place was the seed buried, and what
he said to me was “Why worry? That was just an open bit and when it grows we’ll
see then the color and taste of it.” Now it sounds a bit loopy to say I went a
walking with the gardener in the garden of the one true God but then so did
wiping dirt grimed on naked hands onto relatively clean skin.
Have you ever seen the Garden of the One True God? Or tried
to dream of all the things that might be found there? Have you even ever wanted
to know what grows in a place where all that is evil is stopped at the garden
gate, has no power to know? Have you ever wanted to walk where there is no
filth or hate? Have you ever longed to stroll arm in arm with one you love without
rules or control or maybe even just chat with the gardener, who if you asked
would lend you his very own gloves (which he never used?) Haven’t you ever had
a dream so real that you know that there is a place where everything is good
and all that good multiplies and grows and grows and occasionally a new and
different kind of seed comes in through that garden gate and maybe just you and
the gardener find it a privilege of fate to plant it then sit with a cup of tea
and wait for the thing to shoot up through the ground? I don’t know about you,
I hope though that you do dream like that, with or without sound because in
this place the sight is far better than the noise.
I could end this little write up of God’s garden with a bit of a longing tinged last line but then I think I would be a lying for there are days when I am fully awake and I look around at all the beauty and diversity of the color of the flowering folks sharing their time with me and I find myself well far along inside that garden gate.

I have a friend named Kristi, this is dedicated to her
"flowering people", I like that. We are all plantings in progress.
ReplyDeleteYes I long for that!....dream on Walker...don't stop dreaming...great post!
ReplyDeleteI've seen the garden but not the gardener. Last night, though, I dreamt of seeing my sister in a white dress with blue flowers on it. And I'm sure she is in that garden. Perhaps she's helping the gardener. She had enough practice on earth.
ReplyDelete"where all the evil is stopped at the gate"-- YES--I wanna trowel and a friend to dig it with!
ReplyDeleteBBB,

Your garden is lush because you feed your life with love.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet dream!
ReplyDeleteMark, have they turned on the anesthesia already? Kidding! That's a lovely dream and I hope to enjoy the garden someday myself. xo
ReplyDeletesmiles...there is much beauty in the people we get to share this brief bit of time with...and one day i will get to spending time wiht that gardener...smiles.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you have a new book I'll get me one.
ReplyDeleteThis is a garden I'd like to dream of, and with lots of beautiful rocks in there with the seeds and dirt! Evil starts in our own minds and hearts and can be here with us when we wake, unfortunately.

ReplyDeletewhile i was reading this i was thinking to myself i need to show this one to Kristi- she has been irritated with you lately and i feel like it would explain a lot. Show her another perception and anyway i know she would appreciate such vibrant honesty with words clear and no fourth wall.
anyway mark this is bacon- I will begin posting poetry every day now so you should definitely check it out occasionally :D
I never thought about the garden of the one true god, but I frequently do the strolling thing.
ReplyDeleteI would like to keep the evil away from that garden. A great description of what true peace must be like.
